6 Of My Personal Beliefs

As a feminist I believe in equality throughout the genders, and here are six things that I personally believe in to prove it.

Many people have think about feminism in the wrong way. They think that being a feminist means that you believe that women are better than men. Personally, I think that being a feminist means that you believe women and men are equals. To prove that, here are ten things that I believe because of feminism.

1. You should take turns cooking

My mom, a woman who believes in traditional gender roles, does the cooking every night. To me this is an outrage. Can't my stepdad get up and do equally as well in the kitchen? Apparently not because it is the "woman's job." Since we are all equals, there is no "woman's job" or "man's job" especially in terms of cook. We should just take turns cooking with our significant other. Better yet, we can cook together while bonding over our delicious food.

2. Abortion Rights

This is a controversial topic that many people, including some feminists, don't believe in. Personally, I think abortion rights are important because a woman will get an abortion whether you want her to or not, and she has the right to because it is her body. I would never have an abortion, but I think they should be safe, legal, and rare (part of the Democratic platform).

3. Take turns washing the dogs

Giving dogs a bath is not a simple task, and it is not one that someone should do every week if they have their significant other to help out. Take turns being frustrated and soaked for that hour on the weekends. I would say do it together, but as someone who washes dogs for a living I know that that is near to impossible. This is something where taking turns is vital.

4. You cannot grab a woman by the p***y

Since the recent election results, people have gone around doing this. It has only been a few people with a few victims. Regardless, this is something that shouldn't even happen in the first place. Let me grab you by your genitals infront of your wife or girlfriend when I don't even know you. That's how it feels when it happens to us.

5. Education equality

Education is one of the most vital pieces of social survival in the modern world, but some countries still favor the education of men over women. This is an outrage. Men and women have equal thinking skills, and have equal intelligence. This should be shown through centralized education that doesn't favor a specific sex.

6. Work place equality

All over the world women and men do not have work place equality. Some jobs favor women by paying them more, and some jobs favor men in the same way. Either way it needs to stop. Since both genders are equal, we must treat them as equal by giving them equal pay and equal job opportunities.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
