This is the time in the semester when everyone is feeling drained. People feel as though they're stuck in the same routine and the days are blending together. So, in order to spice up your week, here are six ideas of new things to try.

1.) Learn to play an instrument

Pick up that dusty guitar under your bed and look up some YouTube tutorials on how to play a basic song. If you already play an instrument, pick up a new one, find a piano to learn on, or learn a challenging but fun song. You'll feel so accomplished after doing this.

2.) Learn how to do awesome make-up

Everyone is envious of those girls with perfect make-up. Like, how? Well there has recently been an increase in YouTube vlogs and tutorials on how to do perfect make-up for varying occasions. Take some time out of your busy week to sit down and try some of these awesome tutorials on yourself or your begrudgingly willing roommate. It might be super fun.

3.) Try a new style

You know that shirt that you've had in your drawer for years, but have been too self-conscious to wear? Or that brand new skirt that you've had since fourth grade and can't bear to get rid of, but also have no idea what top to wear it with? Well, this week is the week. Wear the top out to a party, social event, or even to class. Bring a sweater in case you feel super uncomfortable. But understand that the feeling of wearing a cute top you've always longed to wear, even if you feel slightly self-conscious, will be a super exhilarating and freeing feeling.

4.) Write only in cursive

This may be a struggle for some, or just a focusing game for others. If you've never written in cursive more than what you had to on cursive tests in third grade, this may get super frustrating, and may not be a fun task. For others, who use cursive more often in their daily lives, this may just be a focusing strategy. Few people write in cursive all the time these days. Simply remembering that you have to write only in cursive will be a struggle. However, it is guaranteed that your cursive will improve, however much or little, throughout the course of the week.

5.) Eat a food you've always said you dislike, every day

It doesn't have to be a huge bite, but take a little bite out of a food you've never cared for each day. When in college, this task is fairly easy because of the vast amounts of food to choose from in the dining hall. Maybe this experience will be awful, and all of the foods will taste exactly the way you always imagined, but, keep your mind open, because maybe you'll find that since you've gotten older, your taste buds have changed and now you like food that you never would have expected you would grow to like.

6.) Invite a new acquaintance out on a "friend-date"

You know that one girl, or guy, who sits next to you in that class you both hate, who you always have great small conversations with? Invite them over, or out with you to get coffee or to go to a sports game. It's so fun to make new friends, and yet, in a boring and monotonous routine, it's easy to just make do with the friends you already have, and halt forming any new friendships. Well, this week, the challenge is to make a new friend. It'll be such an awesome experience and will make your heart so full.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
