Everyone loves a good movie, right? My personal favorites are comedies and coming-of-age stories. There's always certain movies that strike a chord in me, the type of movies I could watch over and over again. These are some of those movies. Some of them you may have seen, some of them you may have not, but here's 10 movies I think everyone should see, if they haven't already.
1. Kings of Summer
Kings of Summer is about three boys who escape their parents houses and rules to create their own life out in the woods. Together, they gather wood and other supplies and make their own house out in the middle of nowhere. But, the boys come to find that living out on their own at such a young age isn't all it's cracked up to be.
2. The Edge of Seventeen
The Edge of Seventeen is a movie that just recently came out, starring Hailee Steinfeld. It's a coming-of-age story about a girl and the troubles she goes through at age seventeen. On top of all of her own personal problems she's dealing with, she finds out that her best friend likes her brother and her brother likes her best friend back, thus being the cause of the end of the world. It's a funny and heartwarming story that makes you and laugh and makes you cry, a must-see.
3. The Way Way Back
This is one of my favorite movies to watch right at the beginning of summer because of the summer mood it puts you in. It's a story about a boy who's just trying to find his place. On vacation with his family, he stumbles upon a waterpark where he meets an unexpected friend that helps him out through the summer to become more confident and less insecure. It's another heartwarming story about the importance of good people in your life.
4. The Little Prince
The Little Prince, based off the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is one of the most thought-provoking animated movies that I have ever seen. It's not one that is hard to understand, but it makes you think about your own life in many different ways, or at least, that's what happened to me. It's about a girl who meets her new neighbor, an old aviator, and he introduces her to his childhood and shows her what he thinks matters most in this life. With a ton of little life lessons, this is tearjerker to make you appreciate more of the little things in life more than you did before you watched the movie.
5. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is about an awkward teenage high schooler and his friend who meet an ill girl classmate. They become the best of friends, making movies together, and showing the girl. It's another classic coming-of-age story that will for sure get the waterworks going and make you think about life and be appreciative of what you have instead of what you don't. It's one of those movies that kind of set everything into perspective and makes you think less about the little things and more about the big picture.
6. Flipped
Flipped, one of my all time favorite movies, takes place back in 1957 to 1963. It's about a boy and girl, who are neighbors, and ever since Bryce moved in, Julie has had a crush on him. But, as they get older, her crush starts to fade away as she sees what he's really like. The twist is that the moment Julie's feelings start to disappear, Bryce begins to be feeling something that he doesn't understand for Julie. In one of the sweetest movies I have ever seen, if you love little love stories, then you will be sure to love Flipped.
