New year, new me! Right?

If you’re anything like me, you know that a change in the numbers you write in the top right corner of your homework has absolutely zero effect on who you are. In this article I am taking a moment to look back on some of my favorite songs from 2015... when I was the exact same human being as I am now.

We all need a little clarification in our life at some point. Not sure what exactly your professor is looking for on that project? Don’t know what your boyfriend means by “space”? Can’t tell if your friend is mad or wicked mad at you for polishing off her box of wine? As Justin Bieber tells us in his hit What Do You Mean, all you have to do is ask. According to Justin, “what do you mean?” will do the trick.

Don’t be afraid to be yourself out there and be outspoken. Sometimes we need extra attention and we shouldn’t be afraid to ask for it! (or literally tell people to give it to us) By now, we should all be familiar with Silento’s Watch Me, you know the one with the whips and the nae-naes and the stanky legs? I know you know what I’m talking about. Silento encourages us to watch him exactly 59 times in this chart topper. So why not? Get with it people and go get that attention you deserve!

Make your priorities clear. After all, you are the most important person you know. Big Rings on Drake’s Album What A Time to be Alive featuring Future is a perfect example of just this. “they need some really big rings, they need some really nice things”. If you, much like Drake’s team that he is singing about, need something then go get it. Crushing on that guy in your Stats class? Go talk to him! Dying for some Calvin Klein undies? Save your money and go buy some already!

Lucky for us, Adele’s song Hello that was released back in October has given us a lot of great tips. When you’re talking to someone be confident and assert yourself. “Hello, it’s me”. But remember to make sure they can hear you before you start talking. “Hello, can you hear me?” You’d just sound stupid talking to yourself. Be polite. It’s not all about you. “Hello, how are you?”. Thank you, Adele.

On May 27th The Weekend taught us to manage our time with The Hills and we should never forget it. “I only call you when it’s half past five”. You are a busy human being. You can’t be making phone calls to someone just whenever. You have to do you. Manage your time and be a happier person.

I know I’m not alone when I say that One Direction is probably the last group of people I would expect to teach anyone anything. What has this London based boy band taught us? To live in the moment. In their 2015 song Perfect the boys tell us “But I can be the one, be the one tonight”. Is this an incredibly corny line and do I sort of hate myself for incorporating it in my article? Yes I do, I super do. However, we are given one life. We have one opportunity to live and we may as well do that in this moment. (It’s more fun that way anyways.) So props to you Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
