6 Heartfelt Stories That Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity

Times are tough, and we often find ourselves losing faith in humanity. Between corrupt political leaders, public figures becoming noticed for poor reasons and one of the most trending topics for a good year being the size of Kylie Jenner's lips, it's easy to forget that there are people out there living life to the fullest and doing good things. So here I have compiled a list of people who just may have restored my faith in humanity.

1. The man who (literally) gave the shirt off his back.

On Jan. 8, 2016, a homeless man was sitting shirtless and shivering on a Brooklyn-bound train in New York City. Upon seeing this, an unidentified man jumped to his aid and provided the man with the shirt off his back (which he dressed him in) and finished it off with the hat from his head. He didn't seek anything in return but just was genuinely concerned for the man's well being. A man on the train captured the whole thing, which can be watched below.

2. The 4-year-old protector

Many have already seen the heartfelt video circulating the internet of two Taiwanese 4-year-olds' adorable conversation. It was the first day of kindergarten, and the little girl was crying because she was unsure if her mother was going to come and pick her up after. However, the young boy comforted her and assured her that her mother would come, and even told her multiple times that he'd protect her. Four years old and already an instinct to comfort and protect a crying little girl. My heart! (Watch the cutie pies below!)

3. "Doctor Who's" special surprise

After the death of a 9-year-old autistic boy's nanny, the young man, Thomas, received a personal video from Peter Capaldi himself. Thomas' father said the video helped his son profoundly through the grieving process. In it, he states, "Clara and I are traveling around in time and space. Sometimes bad things happen to us. And sometimes sad things happen to us too." How perfect is that? Watch the personal video from Capaldi to the boy below!

4. "Pink is, very simply, his favorite color."

After the photograph of a woman's child with a pink cast on went viral, she finally came out of the shadows and spoke about the rumors that were floating about it. At http://www.mommyish.com/2013/10/21/pink-is-not-a-girl-color/, the woman states that everyone was sharing the photo with the rumor that the child chose a pink cast because it was for breast cancer awareness, and although this is a nice thought, that is not the case. The mother stated that pink was her son's favorite color, and there is nothing wrong with that. She said the doctor tried to insist other colors for the boy's cast, and she spoke up and said that he wanted the pink one. In addition to defending her son in the doctor's office, she has the belief that colors are gender neutral, and is fully supportive that her son's favorite color is pink and her daughter's is blue. More people should be supporting their children like this mom! Way to go (she shared the photo below in her article)!

5. The woman who risked her life to save a life.

On Sept. 8, 2015, a 19-year-old woman risked her own life to save a 75-year-old man, whose wheelchair was stuck on a railroad just as the train was approaching. The Illinois woman, Ashley Aldridge, was fixing lunch for her children when she heard the shouts of the man outside, before rushing to his aid. He weighed more than 200 pounds, but Aldridge was able to pull him out of the chair just as the train was passing, which sent the wheelchair flying into dozens of shattered pieces. 6. The tattoo artist with a big heart

A New Zealand tattoo artist, Jason Ward, tattoos the same woman every single Friday. However, these are fake tattoos. Furthermore, the woman, Suzie Barrie, has Down syndrome. The beautiful part about it is that Ward is grateful that she has been coming into his tattoo shop with her stick on tattoos because he knows that other tattoo artists could potentially turn her away or treat her rudely. He stated in The New Zealand Herald, "Why would you say no? You should treat everyone the same." Right you are, Jason! What a beautiful relationship! And just look at how great Suzie looks all tatted up!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
