6 Great Things About Being An Only Child

1. I didn't have to share anything. Ever.

This was the best thing. When everyone else was wearing old hand me down clothes, all of mine were brand spanking new. I always had all of my toys to myself. Everyone was always jealous that I didn't share a room, my things, my food. Everything I had was mine and only mine. This is important when you're younger. It was a little bit of an adjustment going to college and suddenly having to share a room and a bathroom In fact, it was horrible.

2. Everything was about me.

All me, all the time. I was the most important thing (and still am). What I wanted, I got. I am still not sure if this has been a positive thing for me as I grew up, but i wouldn't change it for anything.

3. No sibling fights or rivalries.

I never got grounded or punished for hitting my sister, because she didn't exist. Also, no fighting about who's things are who's. It's all mine bitches. Who's the favorite child? Me, duh (unless you count the dog).

4. More room for all of my things.

The whole not sharing a room thing was very important to me. I also didn't have to worry about not having enough room in the toy box for my stuff, because I didn't have to share the space.

5. My friends became my siblings.

Going on vacation? Bring a friend. Going to the movies? Bring a friend. Going basically anywhere? Bring a friend. You end up getting extremely close to the people you hang around and care about. They become the sibling you never had, and never wanted.

6. Pets

They say that dog is man's best friend, and I couldn't agree more. If you think the bond between a pet and it's owner is strong normally, imagine what it's like when they're all you have. They're home when no one else is. They always want to play and be in your presence.Let's just say that I have had some great conversations with my dogs, and they know all my secrets.
