When you live in a dorm, sometimes all you want is a home-cooked meal. You may not have a full kitchen, but here are some easy recipes you can make while away from home!

1. Taco in a Bag

Are you a fan of Taco Tuesday, but don't have the time or energy to put on real pants? No problem. With this easy recipe, you get the perks of an authentic(ish) Mexican restaurant from the comfort of your dorm room. All you need is a small microwave bowl, ground beef, cheese, lettuce, and your favorite bag of chips. Microwave the beef in a bowl for 30 seconds. Squeeze the bag of chips gently, as to slightly crush the chips. Cut the top of the bag open, pour the beef into the bag, and stir contents together. Once mixed, top with cheese, lettuce, and anything else you like on your tacos. Eat directly from the bag.

2. French Toast in a Mug

For this recipe, you'll need a microwave-safe mug, your favorite kind of bread, butter, milk, eggs, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla extract. Microwave butter in the mug for 30 seconds, tilting the cup to coat all sides of the mug when done. Combine all ingredients except the bread in the mug until evenly mixed. Then, press bread cubes into the mixture and microwave on high for 90 seconds or until french toast has set.

3. English Muffin Pizza

Bet you never thought of this delicious combo! To make these personal pizzas, all you need are English muffins, pizza sauce, cheese, and your favorite pizza toppings. First, slather your desired amount of sauce onto an English muffin, Then add cheese, then your toppings. Then, stick it into either a microwave or a toaster oven. Hint: A toaster oven will give you those crunchy edges you love!

4. Frozen Greek Yogurt Chips

Now that spring is here, you'll need a refreshing snack to cool you off as the temperature rises. The two things you need for this recipe are your favorite kind of Greek yogurt and a Ziploc bag. Empty a container of Greek yogurt into the Ziploc bag and seal it. Cut a hole in a bottom corner of the bag. On a plate, dispense drops of yogurt about the size of a quarter by gently squeezing the bag. Once finished, freeze for two hours.

5. Ram n' Cheese

If this isn't a college recipe, I don't know what is. To start this recipe, you'll need to combine grated cheddar cheese with cornstarch (ask around, someone has to have it). Then, combine this mixture with milk in a small saucepan and cook on medium to low heat. While this is cooking, begin to boil the Ramen noodles. Once they have come to a boil, drain the noodles and combine them with the cheese mixture. Essentially, you'll end up with a hybrid of mac n' cheese and Ramen noodles. Yes please!

6. No-Bake Oreo Bars

For this recipe, you'll need a baking sheet, but no actual baking is required. You'll need a package of Oreos, a large package of marshmallows, and butter. To begin, line the baking sheet with aluminum foil. Next, fill a Ziploc bag with Oreos and crush them until no large pieces remain. Melt together the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave bowl for two minutes and add in Oreos when completely mixed. Press this mixture onto the baking sheet and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Cut into bars (or eat as one really big bar) and enjoy!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
