Okay, okay, I get it. You're tired of the same Christmas songs being played over and over again. I'm sorry, I'm one of those people whose been playing them since Halloween. But don't worry, like you, I am always looking for new music and something different than the same 4 melodies. There's always artists, both new and old, famous and unknown, who release their spin on popular songs on YouTube and Christmas tunes are no exception. So, I've put together a list of my favorite, unique Christmas covers that will hopefully get Jingle Bells out of your head.
1. The Christmas Can-Can
Straight No Chaser put their own lyrics to this well-known tune giving it a very unique yet festive vibe. I found myself laughing while listening to it and would definitely put it at the top of my Christmas playlist.
2. Carol of the Bells (for 12 Cellos)
This age-old melody has been covered by almost every instrument and ensemble out there, but never by 12 cello parts. The Piano Guys put an epic twist on Carol of the Bells.
3. All I Want For Christmas (in minor)
Chase Holfelder has taken many popular songs and transposed them into a minor key. It gives the songs a whole new feel, especially this one. It sounds much creepier than when Mariah Carey sings it, giving the words a whole new meaning.
4. Little Drummer Boy
You've got to have a solid drum with Little Drummer Boy, so why not an entire drumline? This group dominates the song by combing the original with a drumline that could be straight out of a marching band.
5. Christmas Wrapping
This is a lesser known Christmas song but you'll recognize after hearing it, and this is definitely the most unique cover I've heard.
6. Winter Wonderland/Don't Worry Be Happy
I didn't think these songs would work together but they definitely did, plus who doesn't love Pentatonix? This version of Winter Wonderland mixes in another classic song for a different yet catchy tune.
Good luck in your Christmas caroling adventures, I hope these will give you a little something different on your playlist this year!
