Art has been an important aspect of the world forever. It has been a loud voice and a form of self-expression for the generally unheard. These are a few of my favorite artists, from Anajah Hamilton to Samara Reweti, here is a list of artists of color you need to get behind.

1. Anajah Hamilton

Anajah Hamilton is a performing artist, whose debut single, 4 AM was released on Soundcloud in earlier this year. She also released Libra on Soundcloud in May 2017.

2. Lili 'La Artista' N.

Lili's art represents her Chicana culture and heritage. She incorporates Mexican culture and social justice.

3. Ayomide Odumosu

This UC Berkley student and visual artist is known for her project 'Don't Touch My Hair: Visual Exploration of the Socio-Political Implications of Women of Color’s Body Hair & the Policing of Femininity.'

4. Bobby Trauma

Bobby Trauma is a Lagos-based illustrator whose art depicts a futuristic dystopian Nigeria.

5. Olivia Engobor

The photo above is a project by Olivia that illustrates black women as soft, despite the negative images shown by the media.

6. Samara Reweti

Samara Reweti is a Maori dancer. She specializes in hip-hop and contemporary dance styles. She posts her dances on her YouTube .
