I’ve always loved road trips. There's nothing like waking up at 2 am getting on the open road knowing that in that moment the world is yours. I don't think we give our cars enough credit. So much life happens within the walls of our vehicles: we sing, we cry, we dance, and at some point along the way, we find ourselves. Our cars know us better than anyone. They become our second home, they become extensions of ourselves, and for that we owe them a huge thank you.

This winter break I decided to get really close and personal with my car by driving home, to the great state of Texas, all by myself. Here are 56 thoughts I had during the 18 hour adventure.

1. It's only an 18 hour drive, the time will fly by.

2. Why is everyone wishing me luck? I can do this!

3. I hope it doesn't snow, I can't drive in the snow.

4. I wonder how many Snapchat filters I can get on my story.

5. Its only been 4 hours, I’m never going to make it.

6. Why are there so many semi-trucks?

7. Can the GPS stop playing in the middle of my songs?

8. I’m kinda hungry, but I think I can make it a couple more hours.

9. Why is everyone passing me?

10. I’m going 7 over the limit, is that not fast enough?

11. Wow, I made a great playlist.

12. I forgot how much I love throwbacks.

13. Are we there yet?

14. My butt is numb.

15. I should really eat something.

16. Why is gas so expensive?.

17. I really shouldn't snapchat and drive.

18. But I'm so bored.

19. My back is killing me.

20. I hate public restrooms.

21. Did I just run over an animal.

22. No, no that had to be gravel.

23. Cruise control saves lives.

24. Driving through Oklahoma sucks.

25. I’m on a highway, why are there so many traffic lights?

26. My snap story is probably really annoying right now.

27. Oh shoot I'm about to miss my exit.

28. I am so sorry to the person in the silver SUV that I just cut off..

29. Oh, they’re passing me now.

30. Don’t make eye contact, don't make eye contact.

31. How have I not gotten a speeding ticket yet?

32. I wonder if everyone can tell that I smell and haven't showered.

33. Why is there so much traffic?

34. No seriously, I can't do traffic.

35. I wish cars came equipped with bathrooms and snack machines.

36. Wait, that's just an RV.

37. TEXAS!!! TEXAS!!! TEXAS!!!

38. I can't believe I finally made it.

39. I'm so happy to be in the best state.

40. All states should speed limits that are 75.

41. Shoot, I still have 6 hours to go.

42. Texas, why do you have to be so big?

43. Oh no, I’m falling asleep.

44. It's okay, it's okay, I can totally do this.

45. Let's FaceTime someone, just in case.

46. FaceTime and driving might not be the safest.

47. Why do I hate coffee so much?

48. I need caffeine.

49. Diet Coke and dark chocolate are my best, best friends.

50. TGOD, there’s the San Antonio exit.

51. Only the home stretch now.

52. Am I crying?

53. Yup, those are definitely tears.

54. I cant believe I haven’t slept in 18 hours.

55. I’m definitely delirious.

56. Good thing I have to do this again in 4 weeks.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
