There are seven of you. “Quality over quantity” simply does not apply here. Each one of you brings something so beautiful and unique to the table that does not diminish with the number, which I know is hard to find. This sounds like a love letter; it almost is. It is a thank-you for all that you have done for me and all that you continue to do for each other.
We all believe in different things; whether or not God controls everything, the best time to Instagram a picture, the appropriate age gap in a relationship, and what happens after you die. One thing we all seem to agree on is that being there for each other is something unquestionable, something that if challenged, is grounds for a sort of “friend-expulsion.” We each go to different schools and study different things. We like different looking guys and different sounding songs. But for the most part, we are one in the same; individuals who form a whole, an unbreakable mass.
I have always appreciated your presence and your commitment to being my friends, but I never realized the sheer importance and impact that you have had in my life until we all went away to college. I had a less than perfect year, landing up at my “dream school” which turned out to not be much of a “dream school” at all. I spent my days crying and my nights up, wondering how much I would cry the next day. Every minute brought unexpected emotions and obstacles. The only constant thing in my life was coming back home to you and you all magically being available whenever I needed help. The only time I had any hope for the future was when we were joking around, on the floor laughing.
Now that I am at a school that I love and am happy with myself and excited for my future, I am able to recognize what a strong force you have been in my life, and especially in times of need. A letter will never do you justice, simply because you are all too intense to be composed into a mere 500 words. Each one of you is so intelligent, saying things that surprise me and make me curious. You always know what song to play to make everyone feel like they are in a movie, waving our hands outside of the windows. You are so beautiful inside and work hard to feel confident on the outside, something that inspires me to be better than yesterday. You are all kind, selfless, hilarious, and bold. You will probably make fun of me for writing this sappy article for years to come, but when you all save the world, I will be in the crowd screaming with excitement, embarrassing you even more. I promise.
