Needless to say, music is one of the biggest parts of anyone’s life today. I agree some people are not much for music, in fact the only reason they have the radio playing in their car is because, anything is better than silence. Well, not everything, because artists like Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Fetty Wap exist. And these are just a few out of purgatory’s pit. So, yes I get it. But in majority we all love music. We all like some of that “Twenty One Pilots” vibe.
I have always been interested in playing instruments. According to my amazing records, I do have one week of silly training on the drums. But, regardless of my incapability to play an instrument, I do own a very fantastic and dusty guitar (Yamaha C40).
There is a wide range of instruments from which we can chose. And I think it’s amazing to know how to play an instrument. Some of my favorites are guitar, piano, ukulele, violin, and table (Indian). The choice of your instrument also decides how you can learn. Now days, YouTube is absolutely amazing when it comes to tutorials and online classes for music. We should all take advantage of such a service in today’s time. I am going to list some resources down here which not only include YouTube channels, but some apps as well.
YouTube:
(Piano) Lypur
(Guitar) GuitarJamz.com, NextLevelGuitar.com, Guitar World Magazine, Pro Guitar Shop, Steve Vai.
(Ukulele) - The Ukulele Teacher
Apps:
Guitar Lab
Piano Man
Yousician
Smart Music
These are just a few examples, and they are good in a general way. More research can definitely result in some better learning resources.
Now, there are a good amount of reasons why one should learn a musical instrument. So, I will go over some, which help you to improve yourself.
It will help the capacity of your memory
Enhances your coordination
Sharpens your concentration
These are just a few reasons what learning/playing an instrument will help you achieve. Yes, it does help you do better in studies as well. And it for a number of reasons. Of course it will be good to have your focus and concentration sharpened, and also to increase your memory, but what really helps, in my opinion, is the purity that comes from expressing yourself through music. I have always loved singing, even though people have been kind enough to tell me I can make their ears bleed. And that is particularly why I would really like to learn an instrument. I will be beginning to start my online lessons to play an ukulele.
Somethings that I look forward to once I become decent in playing an ukulele is playing it to myself mostly, but covering songs I otherwise love to hear. Also, a lot of times, I feel some songs don’t really have to be set in the way they were by the original artists, and this is where my skills would come into play. I can always create my own renditions, it may be difficult and long, but I might create something good or even better.
So, yes learning would be hard, long, and a little extra something on your plate, but I am pretty sure it will be worth it. When you can sit outside, maybe your backyard, maybe the riverside, maybe anywhere you feel comfortable, and play your favorite tunes, it will be so worth it.
