A Letter To My Best Friend

I may not be able to solve all of your problems, but I won't let you face them alone.

A Letter To My Best Friend
Shelby Murrell

Dear Bestie,

Wow ok so this is a surprise to you! This letter is to thank you. So hang on and let me get sappy for a second! Thank you for always being there for me. You always have listened to me complain and you've listened to me argue about stuff I shouldn't be arguing about. Thank you for always complaining with me. I found someone who feels the way I do about the same things.

We complain to each other about people and dumb boys and the athletic training program and so on. We always take each other's sides and we always stick by each other, no matter what it is. Thanks for letting me like the guys I like. You've never once told me I couldn't like someone (with an exception of one lol) and you've never torn me down about them, and I appreciate that.

Thank you for letting me come to your apartment. I invite myself over but I know you love me so I know you don't care! And the fact that we made a bunch of cookies twice at your house says a lot because I really love baking and you never say no. Thank you for taking care of me on Saturday nights. I know it sucks playing mom but thanks for not letting me do stupid things, even though I may get mad. Thank you for always being my partner in crime. Thanks for doing stupid things with me and for laughing at these moments afterwards.

You truly are the one person I'd do crazy stuff with, like get on the mule outside the football field when there's clowns on the loose. Thanks for always eating with me at lunch and dinner!! I enjoy our lunch dates and I definitely enjoy our dinner dates because we have to talk about all the stuff that happened at football practice that day. Thank you for taking my weirdness and still being my friend. I know I'm crazy but somehow you think I'm cool and you still love me and consider me your best friend.

How have we spent so much time together and you still haven't gotten tired of me??? You can always seem to understand my problems and WOW you are still here and hanging out with me! And finally, thank you for being you. You are one of the best people I know! You make my day so much more eventful, and you always have some story to tell me when I see you in class.

You are the apple to my pie, the pumpkin to my latte, and most importantly, the best to my friend. From letting me get you hooked on G- Eazy to you getting me hooked on Rae Sremmurd, you always know what I need. So seriously, thanks for being my best friend and thank you most definitely for not letting me do college alone. I love you best friend!

Love,

Your Bestie

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
