50 Things That Will Make You Happier Than a Good Morning Text

As women, we have always been told that a "good morning" text from your significant other should be expected. This is supposed to show a sign that you were their first thought when they woke up in the morning. S'cute, right? Well, what about the women out there who aren't in relationships, or the ones who are and don't care about a silly "good morning, beautiful" text?

I think I'm a little different when it comes to the expected relationship norm. I'm not into cuddling, PDA, being Facebook official, and definitely not good morning texts. Does this mean that I, and other women who are like me, don't like to be appreciated? Of course not. I think this just means that there is a new generation of women and we don't need to rely on someone else's words for our happiness. Whether you are in a relationship or not, there are definitely other things out there that are way better than a little ol' text message.

  1. The first bite of your Chipotle.
  2. When there is no line for the girl's bathroom.
  3. Sleeping in freshly cleaned sheets.
  4. When a new season of your favorite show gets put on Netflix.
  5. Getting called off of work.
  6. When you convince your roommate to go out with you.
  7. Sweater weather.
  8. Successfully completing a Pinterest project.
  9. The first time you're able to drive with the windows down after winter.
  10. Harry Styles' infamous 'whale.'

  11. Aquariums.
  12. Family vacations.
  13. Buying a new purse.
  14. Upgrading to Spotify Premium.
  15. The way your dog greets you when you come through the door.
  16. Leftover pizza.
  17. The lingering smell of birthday candles that were just blown out.
  18. Feeling refreshed after a long nap.
  19. Fuzzy socks.
  20. Binge watching "Bob's Burgers."

  21. Getting the character you wanted on a quiz without cheating.
  22. Man buns.
  23. The satisfying feeling you get after a philanthropy event.
  24. Drunk-you leaving sober-you the other half of last night's Jimmy John's.
  25. When you screenshot a Snapchat with one second left.
  26. Your high school GroupMe.
  27. When your favorite band or artist comes out with a new album.
  28. Finding out that the Free People dress you wanted is on sale.
  29. Unlimited breadsticks at Olive Garden.
  30. Ross and Rachel's first kiss.

  31. Feeling proud of your friends when they make a great accomplishment.
  32. Hilary Duff's comeback.
  33. When your iTunes shuffle is on point.
  34. Perfectly shaved legs.
  35. Old episodes of "Glee" with Cory Monteith (RIP).
  36. New workout clothes.
  37. Slipping a "How I Met Your Mother" quote in casual conversation.
  38. Getting the window seat on an airplane.
  39. Big T-shirts that you can sleep in.
  40. When your BFF asks you if you want to go to Taco Bell.

  41. Zayn Malik's long hair.
  42. When you want to skip class and it gets cancelled.
  43. Making it to McDonald's breakfast just in time.
  44. A stranger giving you a hair tie when you desperately need one.
  45. Blackout curtains when you're hungover.
  46. Sundress season.
  47. The first "Gilmore Girls" reunion in eight years.
  48. Longlasting nail polish.
  49. When you finally figure out how to do beachy waves on your hair.
  50. Nickelback.

Okay, so maybe I am just kidding about the last one! But, if you stuck with me this long, you understand where I am coming from. There is nothing wrong with showing affection toward your significant other, and I am not here to judge your relationship. Although this list might look a little random and far-fetched, my point is that your happiness should not be based off of whether or not you start your day with a "good morning" text.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
