After all the hype and anticipation leading up to the release of the infamous 50 Shades of Grey movie, I can finally say that I have experienced a borderline pornography in theaters (I'm kidding, I'm kidding). Some will never understand why people enjoy reading these novels but they are genuinely well written. This does not take away from the inevitably uncomfortable moments that are bound to occur when you watch a movie based solely on sexual dominance and binding erotic contracts. Here's my experience.
When you finally get a good look at the girl playing Anastasia...like I could've been cast in this movie.
But when Christian Grey appears for the first time on the big screen...
And the first time he takes his shirt off...
Halfway through the movie when you realize you'll probably never have a man half as sexy as that.
The look on the faces of people who've never read the books the first time Christian mentions his "contract".
When Anastasia has her business meeting with Christian and reads some of the specifics of the contract.
When Anastasia loses her v-card with someone who will surely be one of People's Sexiest Men Nominees in 2015. But still...why her?
After the first sex scene.
After one too many peeks of "downstairs." Like, is showing EVERYTHING really essential to the film? Could've gone my whole life without seeing that.
After about the 13th time of seeing boobs and someone next to you covers their eyes. Haven't you seen boobs before? It's better than the you-know-whats.
But mostly, when the movie ends waaaaaaay too soon.
Despite all the uncomfortable moments throughout the film in a movie theater setting, I really did enjoy the film. All the controversial haters can hate, but I think you had to have read the books or even just a part of the books in order to truly understand the fascination with Christian Grey in all of his sexiness. Don't pay attention to the critics, and go see it for yourself. Jamie Dornan (aka Christian McSexyPants) is worth the $10.
