5 Unique YouTube Channels Actually Worth Watching

As an avid YouTube watcher of six plus years, I've seen my fair share of YouTube channels ranging from cooking channels to vloggers to filmmakers to artists. When YouTube was first becoming popular it was easier to find enjoyable, entertaining content, but over the years, Youtube has grown exponentially, with now thousands of channels with millions of subscribers, making quality content that is enjoyable and not your typical vlogger who just does challenges and tags every video increasingly harder to findt. This list includes five YouTube channels that I have found to not only to be entertaining, but also offer unique content, a rare thing on YouTube these days.

1. DamonAndJo

Friends Damon Dominique and Joanna Franco run both a travel blog, Shut Up and Go, and another YouTube channel focused on showing people that traveling the world on a budget and learning multiple languages is totally possible –– you just have to shut up and do it. Their videos range from showing their viewers the local favorites of Barcelona, Spain, to tips on finding the best carry on backpack and lessons on how to speak French like a local. Trust me, once you start watching their videos and reading their blog, travel will be the only thing on your mind.

2. Hot For Food

Hot for Food is both a YouTube cooking channel and a recipe blog run by Canadian based couple Lauren and John. They have recipes ranging from buffalo wings and pizza pockets to strawberry cheesecake bites and brownies, and the best part is it's all vegan. Hot for Food is dedicated to turning traditionally non-vegan recipes to even tastier vegan versions all while making it a fun learning experience. My favorite videos they do are monthly competitions between John and Lauren where they each take something boring like pizza or nacos and make them gourmet and viewers have to comment which they think is best. Regardless of whether you're vegan or not, Hot for Food has recipes anyone would love.

3. Jacksgap

Vloggers turned filmmakers, twin brothers Jack and Finn run a YouTube channel and website where they post beautiful films and photos of their travels. Recently, the brothers along with their team have partnered with various companies like Skype and Hilton to produce documentary style videos on topics like climate change and videos focusing on the impact a single person can have in their community by doing what they love. Although they don't post too frequently, the variety and quality of their content makes the wait well worth it.

4. FunForLouis

By now you can probably tell I'm into travel channels. Louis Cole is a daily travel vlogger who has traveled the world documenting every crazy experience along the way.

5. Daniel Kim

Daniel Kim is a Vancouver based artist known for his Pop Danthology videos. In these yearly videos Kim takes all of the most popular pop songs of the year and makes the most amazing mashup ever. My favorite thing about these videos is going back and listening to previous years mashups and recognizing how fast time flies by when you realize it has already been five years since a certain song came out.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
