With the semester coming to an end, and finals starting soon, this time of the year can be stressful. So, what better way to handle your stress, than to avoid all your responsibilities? Check out these websites listed below to provide yourself some quality entertainment when you need a little distraction from your everyday tasks!
1. Freerice.org
This is a great website to not only
distract you from doing work, but give back at the same time! So how does it
work? Well, you are asked simple questions (across numerous subjects) and for
every answer you get correct, free rice will donate 10 grains of rice to the United
Nations World Food Programme to help end world hunger!
2. Postsecret.org
If you haven’t had a chance to check out
Postsecret, do it now! This website allows anyone to write it their own, personal
secret and posts it for viewers to see. The posts are updated every Sunday, so
this is the perfect website to visit just before you sit down to do all that
work you should have done during the weekend!
3. Awkwardfamilyphotos.com
This is a great website to get you laughing
right when you start to think about your long (and nearly endless) to-do list.
Scrolling through some questionable family photos, will give you some
appreciation for your own family (unless of course you happen to stumble across
one of your own family photos) and will help you get all your laughs out before
its time to get back to work!
4. Stumbleupon.com
I’ll warn you now; once you make an
account, there is no going back! This is a great website to check out, and is
perfect for those times that you need a long (like super long) break! Once you
make an account, you can select your interests (i.e. sports, cooking etc.) and
then click “stumble” on the main page. The website will pull up a collection of
articles/videos/news forums that all relate to your interests! Plus, you can
choose to “like” or “dislike” pages to tailor what pages are recommended for
you.
5. Sporcle.com
This website is a trivia game website, where there are timed
quizzes on various topics (I.e. TV shows, musical genres, celebrities, history etc.) This is a great
way to kill a specific amount of time, because each quiz has a time limit. So,
when you are desperate for a 20 minute break, head on over to sporcle and try
and beat the clock!
