As a young woman who believes it's important to look up to realistic role models in our society, I've made it my mission to find networks of successful women who inspire me daily. Luckily, there are a couple different websites and blogs which I follow because they consistently display women making a difference in the world and its most popular issues. Here are some websites every millennial woman should bookmark!
1. HelloGiggles
Founded by Zooey Deschanel, Molly McAleer, and Sophia Rossi in 2011, this website covers everything from news, entertainment, lifestyle, and health. Many of their articles come with the message of female empowerment, but most of all they focus on spreading happiness with their content.
2. Amy Poehler's Smart Girls
Amy Poehler teamed up with her friend Meredith Walker to create a website dedicated to the celebration of smartness, specifically with women. They highlight women who are working in the fields of science, art, and community service. Along with their insightful articles and interviews about women who are changing the world, they also bring humor to their messages. On their website they state, "We are funny first, and informative second, hosting the party you want to attend."3. The Beauty Department
4. Every Ella
In order to support women, Every Ella sell products in which $3 will go to a charity focused on helping girls and women. Every so often they partner with a different nonprofit, but always post where the money will be going on their site. They believe it is important to spread the message of love and support and help other women realize their full potential by. Along with selling products, they also interview women who have inspiring stories and post them on their website and social media with #fangirlfriday!
5. Malala Fund
Malala Yousafzai started an organization to help support and encourage the movement of women's education around the world. Her website shows how she continues to help the mission of spreading education to women. And there is a blog portion of her website which follows the important concepts and actions being taken to raise more awareness about this topic. This is a great website to read up on how women around the world are fighting for their right for education.
Obviously the internet is filled with sites for women everywhere. These are only a couple to start with--dip your toe in the water and see which ones you prefer better. What's your go-to site for inspiration?
