The suspense is building. You're taking the elevator up to your floor on move-in day. You walk down the winding hallway and stop in front of your door. It's the moment of truth. You swing open the door and stare at your new home. "That's it?" is probably what most of us were thinking as we checked out our new living space. How are you gonna fit everything in your room? Here's how...
1. Roll your clothes.
Instead of folding your clothe and stacking them in your drawers, try rolling them up and laying them in rows. This conserves a ton of space, considering dorm room drawers don't really allow you much room. This way, you can fit more clothes and have more options!
2. Store things under your bed.
A lot of times, we forget that there is a ton of room under our beds to store our belongings. The best way to do this is to buy clear storage bins or drawers and slide them under your bed with the front facing out. You can put shoes under there or bulky clothes like sweatshirts and sweatpants that will take up too much space in your drawers. This way, the clothes are easily accessible and won't be in your way.
3. Jewelry Holders
Jewelry holders are an essential when living in a dorm. Trying to find a safe space for your jewelry while living in a small space can be difficult, but there are items that can help with that. Hanging jewelry holders feature small pocket that you can organize your jewelry in. After organizing, you can hang it up in your closet just like you would a jacket. It's a great way to keep your jewelry safe and save space!
4. Makeup Tray
Okay girls, if you're like me, you probably brought a lot of makeup to college. Although most products are tiny, they take up a lot of space and can get very disorganized. Solution? Buy yourself a cheap makeup tray where you can organize your products. This will keep them clean and prevent damage to your furniture and the products themselves. Plus, it's fun to rearrange every once in a while!
5. Wire Organizer
Since you will probably have several chargers, hair products and lamps that need to be plugged in, the heap of tangled wires can take up a huge part of your desk and, frankly, be very annoying. Getting a wire organizer will clean up your desk and keep your wires from breaking and getting tangled up.
