"It's just been one of those semesters" has been what I've been saying over and over again. I luckily only have eight classes to take during my senior year and thought it would be a breeze. I was very, very wrong. But there's nothing I can do besides try my best, and avoid getting stressed as much as I can. I've figured out some ways to stay (or attempt to stay) strong and calm during midterms:
1. Get ahead of the game.
Midterms, in my opinion, are way worse than finals. For finals, you know when they are and you know what's coming. Midterms come out of the blue and you just get slapped in the face with a ton of work. Whether it's papers, quizzes, or exams; start them all ASAP! If you're like me, most of the work will be due on the same day. Get some stuff done ahead of time so you don't have to cram all your work into one day. It's not easy to get up and do your work, even when you know how much stuff is due; but once you start, your stress begins to eliminate.
2. Take that much needed break.
So you've done some work. And 8 p.m. rolls around. Your favorite show comes on. Watch it. Relax (if you're legal and want a drink, go ahead!). Leave some time for yourself. Leave some time to unwind.
3. Seriously, take it.
Seriously, put on your pjs (or your going-out clothes if you wanna go out) and do something relaxing. Or do something fun. If you don't leave time for yourself, you're going to get even more stressed. I've learned this the hard way. "Treat yo self" to that break!
4. Get a good night's sleep.
If you haven't left all your stuff to the last minute and aren't pulling an all-nighter, get some sleep. Less sleep means you're waking up on the wrong side of the bed. That puts a damper on an already stressful week. And you don't want to fall asleep in class when your professor is going over a last minute assignment. Seriously, it will happen. And you will cry.
5. You might get sick, so drink lots of water.
If you're anything like me or my siblings, when midterms come around, so does the sickness. You're blowing your nose between note cards just like I'm sniffling while writing this. It just happens. Drink fluids, eat healthy, and take some medicine (make sure it's non-drowsy though). You'll need to be in your best shape to get through midterms.
P.S. Don't forget to study! Good luck!
