The holidays are right around the corner and who doesn't love celebrating this time of year? After all, you get to take a break from school and sleep in all day. You get to see old friends from high school and get drunk together while wearing ugly Christmas sweaters. And the food. You finally get a few weeks free of Ramen Noodles and Cook Out and have it replaced with amazing homemade deliciousness. Most importantly, you get to spend time with your family.
These are all exciting things to look forward to but at the same time, you also have to worry about the annoying questions that come with the holiday season. For example, How's school? What do you see yourself doing with your major? Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? What are your plans after you graduate? The list goes on and on, and frankly, it's just ridiculous. Here are five ways to avoid answering these repetitive questions:
1. Have a shirt made
Just have a shirt made that answers all the main questions people ask you. This way, you don't have to talk to anyone and hopefully they get the point. My shirt would say something like, "School is going fine. Yes, I have a boyfriend. I have no idea what I want to do after I graduate. Leave me alone and let me live my life."
2. Always have food nearby
If there is always food nearby, then you can quickly stuff your face before your Aunt Judy wants to start a 30 minute conversation that you just aren't interested in. Bread rolls are the perfect finger foods to have close during these hard times.
3. If you don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend, borrow one
Is your family always giving you a hard time because you never have a significant other around during the holiday get-togethers? If so, just borrow a friend to do the job. This way, your family will get off your case and you and your friend can laugh about it for years to come.
4. Distract them with questions about their own life so they don't ask about yours
Just flip roles and become that irritating uncle or aunt that is always up in your business. When they ask you how school is going, just completely ignore the question and ask them how they're life is going. They might look bit confused at first but they love talking about themselves, so it'll work out great.
5. Pretend you lost your voice
The holidays always bring cold weather along with them, so when people are trying to get in your business and ask you the same question you've already heard five times before, just grab ahold of your throat and gesture to them that you lost your voice. They will immediately hope you get better and walk toward someone with a perfectly fine voice.
