5 Ways That Music Makes Life Better

I always try to make time to listen to music. Here is why!:

1. Music can help you through hard times

Sometimes songs make you feel things you did not even realize you felt. Songs can be meaningful because if a song relates to your life, it can make you feel less alone. Music can help us understand that things we are going through are real and that the feelings we have are legitimate. Sometimes it's therapeutic to listen to a sad song and let yourself feel all of the emotions through the music.

2. Music can help motivate you

Sometimes all you need to motivate yourself is a good song. Songs can help motivate you to get a workout in, finish a project, or make you excited to start your day. A good song totally change your view on a situation and inspire you to finish your task at hand.

3. Music can be a catalyst for all kinds of emotions

Sometimes you don't even realize you need a song until you hear it. There are some songs I listen to that immediately put me in a great mood. There are also songs that can take me back to sad times and turn my mood rather melancholy, but allowing yourself to feel all emotions is important and so music is a great helper.

4. Music can reduce stress

After a long day of running around at work or from class to class, music allows you to take your mind off of your busy day. It allows you to be more introspective and it allows you to escape for a little while.

5. Music can help us remember things more vividly

I personally associate certain songs with certain memories from my life or points in time. When I hear Just Dance by Lady Gaga, I am immediately taken back to the days of bar mitzvahs and Juicy Couture. Songs can remind you of a person, place, or thing, and they can help you to more thoroughly remember those things and how you felt in those moments.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
