Back to school means back to schedules...and schedules entail a lot of organization if things are going to go smoothly — especially in college! New classes with different start times mean getting used to new professors, classmates and of course, wake-up times. Here are five ways to start your semester off with ease and organization!
1. Buy yourself a planner
With technology these days, it's easy to type up different "to-dos" on your phone, but it's also as easy to misplace them. Some may be in your ICalendar, and some may be on your notes app (and for some "to-dos" — very very far down in the notes app...) Writing down your plans and keeping them all in the same place helps students know where to be and what to do when. Putting pen to paper also helps retain memory!
2. Make your bed
Studies show that making your bed every morning calls for happiness and productiveness. And of course, productiveness means more organization, right? Making your bed will help motivate you to get to your 8 AM on time, (and perhaps even vacuum a room or two before leaving!)
3. Label, Label, Label
Save time digging for your math folder and just label thing darn thing already! It's easy mixing up different notebooks and folders in your bookbag, so color coordinate by subject and/or use a labeler to save rustling around.
4. See your professors
Professors truly want to form relationships with students, and vice versa should also apply. Grades tend to rise when students take time out of the day to receive one on one help. This will help you comprehend whatever you're studying more while helping you prepare for upcoming deadlines!
5. Go through your email
Have thousands of emails in your inbox? Get rid of them! Unsubscribe from sites that spam you, favorite/star important messages and move your mail to the appropriate folders. Keeping your email organized will help avoid misplacing and forgetting important information!
Organization is key to a happy and stress-free (for the most part...) college experience! Become a more organized student by gradually incorporating these into your weekly schedules.
