If you decide to eat healthy, — for any reason — your “diet” or “ healthy eating plan” probably won't last more than a month. Maybe it's because eating healthy is boring (or maybe because you just can't resist that chocolate cake). Whether you're trying to experiment with new healthy foods, or you're just curious about some weird foods that most people haven't heard of, you'll be interested to see these 5 unusual and healthy foods.

1. Pineberry

A pineberry is a cross between a strawberry and a pineapple. It looks like a white strawberry but has the flavor of a pineapple! The fruit has powerful antioxidants and lots of fiber to keep your digestive system healthy!

2. Amaranth

Amaranth is a grain, similar to quinoa that can be eaten plain, mixed with veggies or even added into sauces, soups or stews. The health benefits are endless, including tons of calcium, iron and fiber!

3. Pummelo

A cousin to the grapefruit, pummelo is the largest member of the citrus family. It tastes like a less-tart version of a grapefruit and is an excellent source of vitamin C and antioxidants.

4. Pickled Ginger

One of the most unexpectedly healthy foods is pickled ginger, believe it or not, it is healthier than most other fruits or vegetables, with low sodium, low sugar and plenty of antioxidants. Chances are that you've had pickled ginger before without even knowing it — it's the thin pink stuff that comes on or on the side of your sushi!

5. Star fruit

Most well known for its vibrant colors and unusual shape, star fruit is a common decoration on the tops of açai bowls at the trendiest restaurants. But aside from its incredible appearance, it also has incredible health benefits! The fruit is packed with fiber, vitamin C, vitamin B, iron and potassium!

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
