While growing up everyone tends to pick up a few habits that tends to relate to where we lived. Coming from the Midwest there are quite a bit of signs that many people think define us. Being friendly and honest to everyone we meet. We say pop and half of the people we talk to don't understand what we are saying. When meeting someone from a warmer state and looking at them like they are crazy when they say it's cold out even though it's a mild 50 degree day. These are just a few of the main things that might give away that you grew up in the Midwest during some point of your life. Here are a couple of other sure signs that you are from the Midwest!

1. "Can I get ranch with that?"

This is probably one of the phrases you have said the most during your life time. Ranch goes with almost anything trust me. Ranch isn't just for carrots and salads folks! Are you eating some wings on Wednesday night? Order a side of ranch with them! And do I even need to mention how amazing cheese curds with ranch are? Probably not because you grew up in the Midwest and already completely know what I am talking about. However if you weren't so lucky to know automatically how amazing it is, you are really missing out!

2. Going to the lake.

A day spent on the pontoon just slowly going down the lake is probably one of the best days of summer. The fun of getting together with all of your friends just to hangout and sit on a boat is something only people from the Midwest understand. Whats better than a slow day filled with sun and laughter? At the same time you also probably saw half the town while out on the boat because that's where everyone was especially if you grew up in a small town. During summer hanging out at the lake was the place to be!

3. Pop vs. soda.

Growing up you probably used the word pop instead of soda. Now when you travel to other parts of the country or meet new friends there is a good chance they will have no idea what you are talking about if you say pop. The whole pop vs soda debate will probably come up along with the debate about water fountain vs drinking fountain. Eventually it's just something you get used to explaining!

4. The infamous Michigan vs Ohio State rivalry.

The rivalry between the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes is a very familiar college football rivalry with die hard fans. Which ever team you are on you can't help but be instant rivals with the other. You can't stand to look at someone from the opposing team! If that cute new boy that asked you out is an Ohio State fan kick him to the curb! It's probably your family's tradition to go all out during game day and you have probably had one or two friendships ruined over this rivalry.

5. Puppy chow.

For some reason not many people outside of the Midwest have the privilege to know about this amazing after school snack? Let's face it, usually after getting home puppy chow was always your go to snack. The chocolate, peanut butter, and powdered sugar? How could you not be in heaven? This is literally one of the best things ever on this Earth!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
