With the invention of iPhones came the invention of screen-shotting: one of the most revolutionary ideas of our time, in both good and bad ways. It has made relaying messages, showing friends pictures, sharing both cute and mean texts from boys, and so much more so much easier than before. Screenshots are such a common form of communicating now, and I personally love to utilize this ability. Here are a few of the typical screenshots sent on pretty much a daily basis.
The Funny Instagram Post
Whenever you see something funny on Instagram, you obviously either have to tag your friend in it or send her a screenshot of it so you have someone to laugh about it with, because laughing alone just isn’t as fun.
The Annoying Facebook Status of an Irrelevant Facebook Friend
We all have those friends on Facebook who are just not involved in our lives whatsoever, but for some reason, we feel the need to keep them on our news feeds. They typically post very opinionated statuses about politics (often with a lot of grammar mistakes) that end up becoming full-on arguments. While these can be very annoying, they are also quite entertaining and you just have to show your friends.
The Texts from a Guy You Like (Good)
Whenever you are texting a guy you like, you always have to show your friends the cute things he says to you, because you can’t help but want to brag a little. You often want help with what to say back, or some input on what you think he actually means (God forbid boys actually say what they mean). What fun is having a crush if you can’t tell your best friends all about it?
The Texts from a Guy You Like (Bad)
Or, rather, from a guy you used to like. These are your least favorite kinds of screenshots to send, because they generally mean that you are extremely mad and/or sad. You want to send these to your friends so you can get help with how to respond to his extreme rudeness, and so they can tell you how much of a jacka** he is.
The “Can you believe this???”
This is a very broad category because many different screenshots can fit into it, so, here are some subcategories:
- The “what is she wearing?”
- The “omg are they together?”
- The “did she really say that?”
- The “look who I found on Tinder”
- The “how do they know each other?”
- The "did he really just message me?"
- The "is this picture real life?"
These are just a few of many subcategories, because there are new ones almost every day. But, in summary, the main idea is that you just cannot believe what you are seeing and/or reading so you need to share it with someone to see if he/she is just as shocked as you are. Odds are, you both freak out about it even more, and then begin investigating the situation.
Happy screen-shotting!
