5 Topics You Want To Avoid At Thanksgiving Dinner

I don’t think I’m alone when it comes to the awkward, hard-to-have conversations with the fam on holidays. There are just certain topics you would like to avoid with your extended family because holidays are a way to escape from classes and you don’t want them to truly know how you’re doing because you are most likely a mess. The heavy school loads every week, immense stress weighing on your shoulders, and your non existent social life unless you count your alcoholic consumption on the weekends will not make you sound like the golden child of the family. So personally, I get a little frazzled when I’m asked the questions….

1. "How is school going?"

Oh top of my class really, all A's every day.

I'm quite impressed it doesn't get better than me Aunt Shirley.

2. "Sooo dating any boys lately??"

Boys??

Oh yeah Ma all the frat boys wanna get to know me.

The athletes?? Yeah they're blowing up my phone with compliments.

Hockey players here are the most respectable, sweetest people i've ever met!!

Hahahah I love boys and all the dates I go on with them...

3. "Staying out of trouble right??"

Oh yeahhhh

Minus the drinking every weekend, in between classes and in the shower yeah no trouble for me

I mean I haven't been caught yet

4. "Making lots of friends and meeting new people?"

Uhhhh yes, I have joined about 17 clubs and i'm so well known and liked here....

Jk school is hell Uncle Joe I have no time to see real people I sit under my covers contemplating taking the L on every exam or watching netflix or both

What's a friend?

5."I'm so proud of you honey"

Proud? Excuse me proud??

Wow, of what!? I do about nothing with my life haha I'm failing almost everything, I haven't told you guys I want to drop out (of life).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
