Doing simple things can make a big difference.

There's nobody that enjoys hitting the snooze button and sleeping in more than I do. But when I do that, I can't help but feel lazy and unproductive. To make myself feel a bit more organized, I do these things. Although they sound like common sense, we often fail to stick to them. Here are 5 tips to help you start your day:

1. Make your bed.

Yes, it may seem a bit stupid but this really works. Personally, I live in a small dorm room. If my bed is messy my entire room. If my bed is messy my entire room feels messy and super unorganized to me. Making your bed makes it seems like your life is somewhat together.

2. Drink water.

It's every celebrity's "beauty secret." But honestly, water is so good for you for so many reasons. If you don't like the taste of water (because yes, water does have a taste) add lemon or any other fruit you can think of. Hydrate yourself and stay thirsty my friends.

3. Wash your face in the morning AND night.

I don't know about you, but some days I get lazy and "forget" to take my makeup off. But finding a good facial cleanser and lotion to use daily can really have a great impact on your skin, and make you feel refreshed and glowing.

4. Check the news.

This can be as simple as scrolling through Twitter, which is what I do. Actually, Twitter might be the only place where I get my news from during school. Knowledge is power, and it's important to stay up to date on what's happening in the world.

5. Go for a jog.

Although I wish I was, I'm not a fitness guru (even though I would love to be). But, I do believe that spending an hour or so being active can easily lift your mood up. I live by the beach (shoutout to the 732!) so in the summer I love running on the boardwalk in the morning, and sometimes I'll go extra early so I can see the sunrise.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
