August is here. Meaning in a couple weeks, days of freedom will be traded for schedules filled with classes and studying. It’s crucial to treasure these last blissful summer days and nights. We need to absorb as much sunshine and laughter before they become a distant memory we cling onto those dark cold winter nights.
But how does one soak in as much of the summer experience as possible? Even in the summer, people work taking up what one imagined to be a time of relaxation and rest. Don’t fret! When you do have a free day or just free time, I have five tips to ensure you’ll have summer memories you won’t forget.
1. Wake Up At A Reasonable Time
You can’t have much summer memories if you sleep the day away! I’m always up for sleeping but there’s a point where it’s too much and it just takes away time where you can be making real memories instead of dreaming about them.
I’m not suggesting you have to wake up really early to get your day started but anytime before noon is ideal. Your first activity could be brunch and honestly, that’s one the best things in the world.
2. Explore
Whether you’re more of city person or a nature freak, there are usually lots of opportunities for you to take an adventure and discover more of your city and local parks. You can check up events to see if there are any festivals near by to check out or take a hike up nearby trails and let the views embed into your mind.
This is all about discovering new places and just taking time to know your surroundings. There’s a lot more going on where you are than you realize. You don’t always need a vacation away from home when there are so many opportunities around you.
3. Grab Something Cold
Summer is notorious for its heat. Sometimes it’s welcomed after a dreary cold winter but with global warming real, sometimes the heat is too much to bear. Luckily, summer is also famous for its numerous frozen treats.
Whether you’re more of an ice cream person like myself or are little more on the fruity side with smoothies, there are lots of cold treats to try. You can also try going online to find recipes to make your own cool treats or drinks from special types of lemonade to making your own popsicle.
4. Just Rest
Whatever eases your mind and body, take advantage of your time and do it. Mine would be reading and just listening to music. With summer’s beautiful weather, it’s even better experiencing these activities outside where I can get my vitamin D. Naps are encouraged, too. But don’t over indulge into much rest or again, you might just be stagnant all day.
5. Be With The Ones You Love
Regardless what you do, it’s always better to do it alongside the people you love the most. Because what can be better than being with your loved ones enjoying life together?
