Spring semester is hard. It starts off in the thick of winter with many campuses buried deep in the snow. The weather quickly moves to rainy with bursts of snow. There are loads of homework with no break in sight. Then the much-awaited break in the storm comes President’s Day weekend. Most people head on home for a weekend of full of sleep, homework, and good food. The second you get back there’s the realization that the big break of spring semester is right around the corner. Spring Break is for fun times with your friends and getting some sun. Here are the top 10 things we think while waiting for Spring Break:
1.Wait, when is Spring Break? Really, so soon.
When you realize that Spring Break is just two weeks away and it’s way closer than you had in your brain it’s a moment of pure bliss. You think about all of the fun times that are coming your way. There’s the plane ride, the getting off the plane, the adventures, the shopping, the lounging, and the relaxing. It’s the break that you’ve been needing for weeks and it’s almost here.
2. I have SO much to do before it gets here.
Teachers are sneaky like that. They love having all your big projects and tests right before you head off to have the time of your life. There are probably a few late in the game midterms and a couple 10-page papers for you to conquer before you get your vacation.
3. I get to pack…. Oh, wait I HAVE to pack.
This one is true for pretty much every vacation. Whether you are headed off to Cabo or NYC, packing requires a lot of planning. We girls need to plan out what makeup we are taking, buy all those cute little mini shampoos and conditioners and decided if we really need two curling irons, a blow dryer, and a straightener for just one week away. All of that doesn’t even approach your situational dressing plan. How many pairs of heels to you need? Do you need more than one pair of sweats? These are all important pressing questions.
4. How do I travel by myself? Mom, explain this!
As college students, we love to flirt with the line that separates adulthood and childhood. While taking a trip with your best friends sounds super fun in theory, executing and planning it is a lot more difficult. If you haven’t done a ton of traveling flying by yourself, remembering to check in, and knowing how early you really need to get places is stressful. On the eve of Spring Break, reality tends to hit and it can be overwhelming, but that’s why we have phones. Give your mom a call. I’m sure she’d love the reminder that you still need her help.
5. It's time. Let's start the best week of spring semester.
You've finally finished all that homework, packed your bags, and made your travel plans. It's time to enjoy all the preparation and hard work with a week of crazy times and relaxing by the pool.
Preparing for spring break is a roller coaster but once you get to the actual break it's all worth it.
