Part of growing up means that, even though it's summer break, you still have to go out and find a job. Most college students can agree that summer is mostly about raking in as much money as possible, and sleeping as much as you can. Although it can be a very busy time, it's also a great way to keep us occupied while we're away from school and distract us from missing all of our friends. We all have very similar thoughts when it comes to working throughout the summer, and here are a few:
1. "Why am I doing this?"

Generally, work sucks. Whether it be because you have to wake up at the crack of dawn, work all day in the heat, perform manual labor, get yelled at by customers, deal with tacky tourists, or even just because you hate it, working during the summer definitely has its cons. There are times when you'll ask "Is this worth it?" and "Why am I wasting my summer?" when you could be sitting on a beautiful beach instead, or even sleeping the day away. You just have to remember this is probably a great thing to put down on your resume, and, of course, you're getting paid! Just think about getting to go to school in the fall without being broke and having tons of money to spend on food. Oh, and textbooks.
2. "Is this what being an adult is like?"

Basically. You chose to be responsible this summer by getting a few months of work experience, making money and saving it up for the future. How adult of you! But, guess what? You get to stop working soon and go back to school in the fall. And you more than likely don't have to put some of what you earn towards household bills. The best part is that it's all your money and you get to spend it on whatever you want.
3. "Taxes suck."

Again, welcome to being an adult! Unfortunately, Uncle Sam gets to take a small percentage of your hard earned money, which can be pretty annoying. It seems like you've entered an endless cycle of working more and earning more, just to have more money taken away from you. Remember, it's only a small amount, and the more you work the more money you'll make!
4. "I hate this job. Wait, no, I love it."

Everyone has that moment, way more than once, where you sit there thinking about how much you hate your job and everything about it. The good news is, it's only for the summer and there's a light at the end of the tunnel. The best moment of your summer job is when you receive that lovely paycheck, making every time you hated working extremely worth it.
5. "I'm about to be so rich."
Say goodbye to being a broke college student. At least until Spring semester.
