College can be an intimidating time for many incoming Freshmen. They have been so used to living a life at home and in the comfort of high school that they are frequently unprepared for the hurdles of college life. When thrown into a completely new environment their first year, Freshmen can react in different ways to the pressures of college life.
1. "Why Am I Here?"
I think many college students ask themselves this question on a daily basis. Why put ourselves through four more years of stress? Why am I putting myself in debt for this? Is it all going to be worth it in the end? Questions like this all have to do with why we have found ourselves in this strange new environment. The biggest thing to take away from this question is that by the end of our four years here, we will have all found our own place in society. We will have all figured out what we want to do with our lives, and why in the end, the struggle may have all been worth it.
2." I Will Never Take An 8am Again."
Although it may seem like a good idea to get an early start, it's not. You will never be mentally prepared for an 8am. Between the others in class falling asleep, the ones who roll in a half hour late, and the ones who decided to not even show up, it will not be a good experience and will most likely never be your favorite class. A lot of people aren't fully awake when they show up for an 8am, and will not be able to take away from the class what is really necessary. Personally, I don't think any amount of coffee can prepare anyone for an 8am class.
3. "Why Is The Cafe Food So Bad?"
College cafeteria food is notorious for being bad. Maybe it's just because nothing can ever compare to a good home cooked meal, but most freshmen will quickly find that out. Colleges that allow the meal plan points to be used off campus can be a lifesaver when students get tired of eating salad or fires for every meal.
4. "Should I Really Go To Class?"
Yes. You really should. A lot of students feel that they can skip class whenever they want, but there's really no excuse to miss a class. Especially if you live on campus. If you sit down and really think about it, you're essentially paying for each and every class you take. So why waste your own time and money by deliberately choosing to skip a class?
5. "Is A Nap Between Classes A Good Idea?"
Yes. As many college Freshmen will soon realize, naps are essential to keeping a healthy mind and body. Nights at school are usually filled with homework, studying, or cramming for exams. Often times college students neglect themselves and stay up longer than they should. In order to make up for some lost hours of sleep at night, naps during the day can be an essential part of college and a good lesson for incoming freshmen to learn.
