All college students have heard some variation of the phrase "I love syllabus week, it's the easiest week of the year" or "Guy's who even cares about going to bed early? It's syllabus week, nothing happens." Well to all those people out there scorning syllabus week, I'm here to tell you that it's actually terrifying. So many things can go wrong on syllabus week. From sitting in the wrong classroom for an hour because you're too embarrassed to stand up and leave, to the familiar feelings of nausea when you read the insane amount of work required for the class, It's proven that syllabus week is actually insanely stressful. Here are the top five thoughts you have while navigating the stressful storm of syllabus week.
1. Am I in the right classroom?
There are few things worse that suddenly realizing you're 15 minutes into Biology 101 when you should be in Feature Writing.
2. How many unexcused absences are allowed for this class?
Seriously, how many times can I stay in bed, no questions asked and still pass?
3. So Professor, you say the book is "required?" Is that more of a suggestion?
Required is kind of a strong word don't you think? Plus that book is really expensive so what do you say?
4. Is anyone in this class worthy of being my partner for a group project?
Looking for a partner who will do their share and show up on time for the presentation while simultaneously not annoying me.
5. Is this professor going to do an ice breaker? Oh God, "Tell the class one interesting thing about yourself."
Person next to me: "I went skydiving this summer with Danny DeVito in Peru."
Me: "I haven't grown since like fifth grade?"
