5 Things You Understand if You Love True Crime

True crime is probably one of those most intriguing genres of books, movies and TV in the history of the world; however, not many people understand that. I know I'm not the only person who has gotten weird looks when I say my interests include watching documentaries about cults and serial killers. And if you're one of those people getting the weird looks with me, you'll know all of these problems way too well.

1) You would rather have a serial killer documentary marathon than a romcom marathon any day.

Let's get something straight, we all know they're going to get together in the end and live an incredibly romantic life and blah blah blah blah. That ending is only interesting like a hand full of times. You know what never gets old? Learning how a killer literally got away with murder dozens of times. Each story is so different than the last and you can't help from getting sucked into it time after time.

2) Falling in love with criminals is way easier than you thought!

Okay, I mean it's not our fault some criminals are just so attractive and interesting! Yes we understand that what they did is sick and twisted and like really bad, but it's just something about them that you can't help lust over.

3) You know more information about serial killers than you do about anything else.

True Crime makes learning SOOOO FUN! You're already caught up in whatever you're watching/reading, so might as well learn a thing or two while you're doing it! Plus, if there's ever a serial killer or cult leader category during trivia night you'll totally crush it!

4) You get more excited about a new docu-series than about the holidays!

While watching the same thing over and over again never gets boring because there's always something new to catch, it is super exhilarating to learn about a new case or a different take on one you already know everything about. Plus, it's a great excuse to stay home, chill out on the couch with a snack, and focus all of your attention on something other than the stress of day to day life.

5) Last but not least, nobody quite understands that you're not crazy.

Giphy

Obsessing over serial killers and cults and cold cases is not as crazy as it seems! People never seem to understand that this is just as much of a hobby as needle pointing except way more interesting. I love sunshine and puppies just as much as the next person, but I also love dark humor and watching a good crime series. We're not crazy, we just like interesting topics that might be a little scary to some audiences. It's completely normal, I swear.

True Crime, no matter in what form, is not only an interest of a lot of people but a hobby for some of us too. I would rather spend my nights cuddled up on the couch watching a movie about the Manson Family for the 11th time this week than be stuck at a party with people I don't want to be around. So please, be nice to use. We're people too, plus we've watched a thousand ways to hide a dead body.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
