5 Things You Forget In Winter

What is this "sunny and 75" that people speak of?

Here we are, in the thick of winter. The days are short and we all waddle from class to class hoping we don’t wipe out on one of the 6 million patches of black ice. Memories of summer are distant. Here’s a gentle reminder of some of the things we can’t seem to remember right now about the good old days of summer:

1. The ability to walk outside not looking like the Michelin Man

Oh, the joys of the days when we didn’t have to put on 876 layers before finally walking out the door. Not to mention being able to sit comfortably in a lecture hall instead of buried in all of your layers that you frantically took off as soon as you sat down in that lecture hall that’s always just a little bit too heated.

2. The sun

The days are short, and mostly cloudy.

3. Biking without fear of wiping out or losing layers of skin off your face

Remember that black ice? Yeah, that becomes even more of a problem when you’re on wheels. Also, the wind has every possibility of leaving some sort of frostbite on your face. Time to whip out that super cute face mask!

4. Iced coffee

You no longer have the option of getting your favorite iced latte on your way to class, because you can’t imagine putting something cold in your body while being pelted by 20mph winds while it’s 10 degrees outside.

5. A nose that isn’t constantly running

Whether it’s because winter also brings with it the peak of flu season or the temperature is just freakishly cold, everyone is sniffling. Hopefully, you aren’t trying to impress anybody, because anywhere you go you’re bound to show up sniffling and looking a bit like Rudolph.

When is spring break, again?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
