Update: The rain doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere. As sad as this may be, here are some things you can do to replace your daily dose of vitamin D, because the sun obviously isn’t:
1.) Hiking:
I know what you’re thinking, “why would I want to go hiking when it’s misty and raining?” BUT, hiking can be a lot of fun when it’s raining outside… especially since it’s so warm. Hiking (and walking in general) is great for your cognitive functions, especially when you don’t have a specific destination. It’s a great way to bond with a friend or a significant other, plus the views in the woods are beautiful, even if the view you’re hiking to might now be. Check out Pocohontas state park or, if you’re feeling ambitious, crab tree falls.
2.) Carytown
Carytown always has something going on. If you like fresh produce and don’t feel like getting up at 7AM, check out the Carytown farmers market on Sunday mornings starting at 11AM. There is usually music and local businesses selling all kinds of fun things.
3.) Marathon
If you’re anything like me, chances are there are some classic movies on your list of movies to watch that you haven’t seen. These non-stop rainy days are perfect for checking those movies off your list! Try watch "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Audrey Hepburn, or even have a "Star Wars" marathon!
4.) Restaurants
Richmond is crawling with great restaurants! Now is the time to up your ‘yelp’ game and venture out to try all those yummy places in Richmond you’ve always wanted to try! If you’re stuck, try Vagabond or Aloha Cafe. Your taste buds will thank you.
5.) Breweries
If you’re feeling frisky, take a chance on the breweries opening up in RVA. Vail is a new one to consider, and you can check out the tried and true Hardywood and Ardent. Brewery hopping is always a fun was to relieve your boredom on a rainy summer day, and usually crawling with people as well!
Happy rainy days!!!
