5 Things I Want to Tell You

It’s crazy how time can fly by but drag on simultaneously. I can remember the day that you left this world so vividly, almost too vividly. I remember the screaming, the crying, and all of the unanswered questions. That week all of the hearts in our high school were broken and to be honest, mine never fully recovered. Its been years and there is so much I wish I could tell you. So if you’re listening, which I know you always are, here are ten things I want you to know:

1. We all still miss you

Hundreds of years could go by and we would still miss you the same. We miss that smile, that laugh, and that corny sense of humor. Nothing will ever change that.

2. You are so loved

You are so so so loved. Your family could not love you more and your friends will always treasure the memories you all made together. Some of my best high school memories were created with you and I will never forget them.

3. We always keep you in our hearts

Everything we do, we keep you in mind. Whether it’s hosting an event in your honor or just doing a random act of kindness, I always try to make you proud.

4. I still listen to your advice

You were always the best at giving advice, no matter what it was. Whenever I find myself wondering how to approach a situation or solve a problem I think about everything you used to tell me. I still value your advice above anyone else’s, you always knew what to do.

5. I am happy

Above all, I want you to know that I am happy. I want you to know that every day I wake up with a smile on my face because I love the life I live. I don’t want you ever to worry about me, because having you in my heart will bring happiness to me forever. Thank you for always looking out for me. I miss you so incredibly much but I know that you’ll always be next to me, holding my hand through it all. Thank you for bringing sunshine on rainy days, love you always.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
