5 Things That Undecided Majors Are Tired Of Hearing
Vecteezy

For anybody who knows me well, they know that I am extremely indecisive. Picking out outfits in the morning is a very difficult task, I never know what to do if two TV shows are on at the same time, and don't even get me started with how much of a challenge ordering at a restaurant is for me. In the long run, these little things don't really matter. However, my college major really matters. And of course, I'm undecided in that area of my life too. I get asked many times a week, "What's your major?" whether it be from acquaintances, hairdressers, or family members. I've noticed that after I say "undecided" I get one or a combination of the following responses. And I'm tired of all of them. None of these responses make me feel better or will help me figure out my major any faster. I feel like all of my fellow undecided majors will agree with these.

1. "It's okay, you still have time to figure it out."

Time is ticking! The time when I have to declare is getting closer to when I have to decide with each passing day and I'm still at square one! I've been undecided to a whole year so far, another few months won't do anything! Time won't fix this at all!

2. "You are more free to explore!"

I don't even know what to explore.

3. "Most people end up changing their major anyway."

This one is a classic. I know lots of people end of changing their major, but at least they have some sort of clarity to start with! Also, since when did comparing yourself to other people become the right way to make yourself feel better?

4. "You like to ___________ (some hobby). How about_________________?"

If only it were that easy.

5. "It's okay, 'undecided' is the most popular major!"

Thanks, school. I feel so much better.

There it is. I'm so tired of hearing at these attempts at assurance everyday of my life. I know that they all come from a good place, but hearing these things repeatedly can get very old.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
