The holidays are always an exciting time. And they're even more exciting if you're a college freshman who’s been away from home for months and finally gets to go home.

There are many things to look forward to, but here are my top 5:

1. Seeing family.

I haven't seen my parents since they dropped me off at school back in August. Sure, I get to talk to them on the phone a couple times a week but that's not the same as actually being in the same room as them.

2. Seeing friends.

For most of us, going to school out of state means moving away from friends, and after high school everyone goes their own way. The holidays are usually the easiest time to get to see these friends and catch up.

3. A break from school.

No matter how fast the past 11 weeks have gone by, I think we can all agree a break from school is always greatly appreciated.

4.Sleeping in my own bed.

There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed, especially if you haven't slept in it for month.

5. Gilmore Girls.

I have been beyond excited for this since the time I found out it was happening.

At the end of the week when all (or some) of the things listed above have happened and Thanksgiving has come and gone, remember the Christmas season has officially begun, and you can now listen to Christmas music without my judgment.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
