There are things in your day that can just really drag you down. I have quickly come to realize in my first two months as a first-time freshman, there are a couple of things that can boost your spirits.
1. Prayer
Prayer works in miraculous ways. Throughout my life, I have been taught to pray during all things: the good and the bad. Philippians 4:6-7 says "Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
2. A FrapJack from Dr. Jacks
In college, having a bad day can come from being tired, failing a test, or accidentally setting your alarm wrong. Everyone knows that saying, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade." What I like to say is "when you have $450 for just anything on campus, buy a FrapJack."
3. Listen to your Favorite Music
There is nothing like having a single person dance party in your dorm room. When you're feeling like it just isn't a good day, turn on Justin Timberlake's song "Can't Stop the Feeling" on repeat and just dance your little heart out for a good fifteen minutes. You will loosen up and have fun while you're doing it.
4. {Sweet}mates
If you're as lucky as I am, you have two of the best suite mates a girl can have. They're always going to be there when you need a deep conversation, a movie night, a good cry, or a laugh so hard it hurts.
5. A Hammock and Two Trees
Going to a college in the beautiful Natural State, it can be hard to escape the wonderful outdoors. It always helps me to grab my hammock and head to the trees on the outskirts of campus. Sitting in your hammock, you can take a nap, study your heart out, or enjoy the wonderful presence of the Lord.
