As people are finishing up their last few weeks of the semester, and some people are winding down on their entire college career, the rush of the warmer months and the stress of all the finals causes us to forget about the more important things that should take the time to do before we head home for the summer or move on to start our lives.
1. Make sure you study enough and spend enough time on any projects
While we might be checked out for the semester and just so over it, grades are beyond important to maintain, even if you're graduating--finishing that last class with a C when you just didn't feel like doing it, might haunt you for some time after.
2. Make time for the friends you aren't with 24/7
Go out to lunch, get a coffee, maybe even just hang out with them. Chances are you won't make any super effort to see them over the summer (you might, but more likely to not) and for the people graduating, who knows if you'll even see these people again, or if you do when. Take the time to make a few more memories with these people, they're your friends for a reason.
3. Do that one thing off-campus you've been dying to do
We all have that one thing we've been dying to do during our entire college experience, maybe it’s a hiking trail or a trip to a funky store. In the words of Shia Labeouf, Just do it! Who knows when you'll have the chance to do it again? Maybe you'll forget about it by next year, maybe you don't have next year because you're graduating or transferring. Take advantage of the current environment you're in while you're in it.
4. Put a little bit more time into your campus organizations
Whether you're Greek, on a team, or in just any club, take the time out to put a little more into it. Chances are you aren't besties with everyone, and you're part of that organization for a reason. If you're Greek, make time for your Big/Little, as well as the rest of your sisters. Talk to the senior who's graduating, or the freshman who is taking a leadership position next year, take the time to share your experiences with other people, network yourself a little better and especially if you're the one leaving take the time to do it for the last time.
5. Enjoy the time with your best friends
We obviously have time for these people since we're all but attached at the hip, but sometimes in being with each other all the time, we forget to really appreciate each other. This might be the last time you live a short walk away from them, get to see them every day. Don't forget to appreciate the laughs, the experiences and just them overall. Yeah you might be best friends, and talk all the time, but you might not be down the hall anymore, but rather a few hour car ride away. You love your friends and should make sure they know it, because sometimes it gets lost in the fact it's just so regularly occurring. Relive the old memories and inside jokes you have, you'd be surprised at the ones you've remembered and everyone else has forgotten and vice versa. Just don't forget to enjoy it.
