The shower is a magical place. Somehow, humanity has managed to master the ability to manipulate water in any shape or direction imaginable in order to clean ourselves. Not only that, we can (sometimes) control the temperature of this water to perfectly suit our fickle bodies. This astounding piece of technology that many take for granted can certainly be mistaken for magic in some parts of the world.
In honor of this essential invention, here are five things that everyone does, or should begin to do, in the shower.
Brush Your Teeth
Efficiency—that is what brushing your teeth in the shower is all about. You should do everything you can do in order to minimize time spent getting ready and maximize time actually being productive, brushing your teeth being no different. The few minutes you save brushing your teeth in the shower may not seem like much, but those minutes added up over an entire year equate to hours of time you could have spent doing something else. Not only is brushing your teeth in the shower efficient, it also makes you feel even cleaner and more relaxed upon finishing.
Sing
Singing in the shower is not only entertaining; it is essential to starting the day on a positive note. Shower singing is freeing and enjoyable, and there isn’t really any judgment on your singing because most people shamelessly partake in it. Also, most showers provide surprisingly warm and echo-like acoustics that allow even the most tone-deaf singers to sound better. Singing in the shower can even help you practice and exercise your vocal chords while also learning the lyrics to your favorite songs.
Listen To Music
In the same vein as singing, listening to music only adds more to the relaxing activity of showering. Whether it be on your phone, laptop, speaker system, etc., the ability to play music in your bathroom is easier than ever. Music and water are somehow linked in nature, and one place this is extremely evident is in the shower. Your energy, mood, emotion, and motivation are all altered depending on the type of music you listen to, and listening while showering only enhances that alteration. If you like to listen to music to achieve certain emotions, than do so in the shower for an even stronger response.
Brainstorm
It is a common occurrence that many of our best ideas come to us in the shower. The simple relaxation and mindlessness of being in the shower allow our brains to think stress free. It is important to not only utilize the shower as a cleansing tool, but also as a brainstorming tool. Suffering from writer’s block or can’t solve a difficult problem? Showering may be a remedy to that obstacle. Be sure not to actively think of ideas in the shower; instead, allow your mind to roam and seek solutions to your problems unburdened. A relaxed body also can allow for a relaxed mind when coming back to whatever problem or idea you were working on.
Drink Beer (Or Any Preferred Alcohol)
Shower beers: two words that should be in the vernacular of every alcohol-consuming adult. Having a cold beer or another cold alcoholic beverage in the shower personifies relaxation. Something about the blend of cold alcoholic liquid and warm water crashing down on your body generates a magnificent emotion that can only be described as bliss. Shower beers are a popular phenomenon in today’s world, making it less shameful than it sounds, and the activity actually has its own subreddit. Not only are shower beers pure relaxation, they are an efficient use of your time when getting ready to go out with friends and/or family!
