There are so many aspects to Purdue that make it a great school from its rigid courses to the school spirit, but some of those aspects stick out more to me than others. Here are some of my favorite things about Purdue.
1. You can wear a hat to class.
We all have bad hair days from time to time. These bad hair days are caused by many reasons; you may wake up and realize you have 5 minutes to get to class on time, or perhaps you hair doesn't react well to Indiana weather. In high school, we had to simply suffer through it. In college, we can at least throw on a hat and pretend the bad hair day isn't happening.
2. Classes don't waste your time.
You don't have all of your classes every day. This means that when you do go to class, the professors are actually teaching you things you need to know. They throw a lot of information at you and don't wait for everyone to understand everything before moving on. As long as you know what's going on, the condensation of classes is really nice.
3. You can choose your meal time.
After many years of being told when you have to eat, college is finally a time where you get to choose when you want to eat. You no longer have to text the group message of your friends asking if they have A, B, or C lunch. You have the freedom to choose. Additionally, since I go to Purdue University, I have many different dining courts to choose from. If I want pizza, I can go to Ford. If I want a burrito, I can go to Windsor. And the food is much better than the usual cafeteria food (most of the options aren't processed meats).
4. PURDUE HAS FRENCH TOAST STICKS.
Before coming to Purdue, I had never experienced french toast sticks. Needless to say, I was forever changed. They are literally the bomb.com. For those of you who have never had french toast sticks, I'll give you a brief rundown on what makes them amazing. For starters, they're fried. This gives them this crispy outer coating that gives you a satisfying "CRUNCH" when you bite down. On the inside, they are light and fluffy like a yeast doughnut. In order to get the full experience when eating french toast sticks, you HAVE to dip them in syrup. French toast sticks without syrup would be like eating french fries without ketchup or Oreo's without milk. It just wouldn't be the same.
5. You meet people you would never have otherwise.
Although french toast sticks are a really amazing aspect of Purdue, probably the coolest aspect of Purdue is the variety of people that go here. There are people who have never been out of Indiana that go here to people that have traveled to 18 countries by the time they were 18. We have people that are Muslims and Christians and Hindus and many more religions. We have people who identify as gay, bi, straight, asexual, pansexual, and the list goes on. The diversity at Purdue is truly astounding. Yet as different as we all are, we all chose to come to Purdue.
