College is a great time in life, often accompanied by adjustments to life as an adult. Throwing in and learning a whole new society as an added bonus to this experience. Here are some things college students go through during their college experience.

1. Leaving everything you know behind

I choose to go to a school that was over a thousand miles away from the home that I had since I was seven. The goodbyes seemed endless, and multiple times did I wonder if I should just go to any of the big state schools in Florida.

2. You learn to appreciate aspects of your hometown you never had previously appreciated

Publix is a great grocery store, one in which I grew up going to most of my life. I got to Kentucky and learned that Kroger or Meijer were the best grocery stores in town. But it's just not the same. While it may seem like a small thing this is just one example. At some points, you will be dying for anything that is similar to home and will cling to it like nobody's business.

3. You instantly bond with people from your home state

Anytime I meet someone from Florida it is like finding a little piece of home in my new home. Someone who also understood all the changes that were made to be where we are.

4. Weather: definitely different

Even though I had lived in a state with all the seasons when I was little, nothing would prepare me for the weather difference. I still to this day do not understand how it can be 70 degrees one day, snowing the next, and the next day having crazy wind with sub zero temperatures. Take me back to hot and humid Florida where I at least understand how to dress.

5. You get homesick

The weekends are especially rough when all of the locals go back to their parents house. Even though you are often invited it is not the same in being in your own bed and getting to spend time with your family,

Holidays are different.

College was the first time I spent a major holiday away from family. The first one was really rough considering holidays were all about special times with the family and I couldn't be there.

While this list just scratches the surface it defintely looks at some of the aspects of being an out of state college student. I love the fact that I choose to go to a school out of state. It forced me to learn a lot of lesson and truly grow up during my college years. But there is defintely a special place in my heart for my home state.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
