1. My Middle School Lunch Table
My friends and I were not cool or popular, but we had each other and that was enough for us. Every day we sat at the same table for lunch. Some days we just sat there, picking at food and barely talking, or doing the homework we forgot about. Some days though we were doubled over laughing, throwing food at each other, singing or screaming at the top of our lungs.
2. My Crazy Teachers
I had a crazy teacher who never had a bad day. He made me smile every day of class because he was always in a good mood. I don’t know when my teachers stopped being happy like him, but I miss it. I miss the teachers who knew my name and knew about my family and what I liked to do after classes. I miss the teachers who were happy to see me every day because I was happy to see them
3. Middle School Dances
I used to get ready for school dances as if we were getting ready for the Grammy’s. We would cram anywhere from five to twenty girls in a bathroom or a bedroom. There would be curling irons and straighteners plugged into every socket, and there was makeup everywhere. Most of the time, we didn’t even really know how to use the stuff, but we felt so glamorous and grown up that we didn’t care at all. The actual dance was never as exciting as we hoped they would be, but we always had a good time. We screamed and jumped in circles pretending like we knew what a club was.
4. Having a Crush on Someone
There was nothing like having an old fashion crush on someone in middle school. In middle school, if I liked a boy, I would wake up early in the morning to make my hair look really nice. My whole day revolved around seeing him in the hallway, or that one class where he sat behind me. There were maybe two hundred kids in the whole school which meant I saw him all the time. My friends would ZAP me and I would giggle too loudly as I read his name on my hand. Middle school crushes were like a job. You always had to like someone because it made your life exciting
5. Learning Someone Had A Crush On You
I remember the day I found out that a boy had a crush on me. I felt like queen of the world. I felt as if I was a movie star. My friend had written me a note on a sticky note (so old school), which said, “someone likes you!” My stomach dropped and my smile was huge. It was the most exciting thing to happen to me ever.
