With Thanksgiving break just around the corner, I can't help but be excited about my favorite things to indulge in at home! Here are some things that I always look forward to when I go home for Thanksgiving and some ideas of what to do over break!
1. Cooking!
One thing that I always miss from home is the ability to cook my own food in the kitchen at home. I love having fresh food and making breakfast and it is tough to get a living situation at Amherst where you can cook in your dorm. Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to indulge in my love of cooking, so I encourage everyone to help their families out this break by contributing to the Thanksgiving meals!
2. Relaxing
I can never get enough relaxation time at home. I love to pamper myself with a manicure or facial and spend my time focusing on myself. I prefer not trying to get ahead on work during breaks because I find my home to be my place of relaxation. I sometimes use the plane rides to get ahead on work, but once I touch down in LA, my time there is for fun and relaxation.
3. Hanging with my pets
Whenever my friends and I see a dog on campus, we can't help but pet it and miss our dogs! This past summer, right before I left to go back to school, my family got a new dog. He is growing by the week and I can't wait to see him again! We have three dogs right now and I plan on taking advantage of my free time by hanging out with them and taking them on walks in beautiful, sunny LA.
4. Seeing old friends
I love my friends at school, but there is just something about reuniting with those friends that still socialized with you even when you were going through your awkward phase. I can't wait to see my high school friends and I'm planning on doing a big group get-together so we can update each other on how first semester is going!
5. Spending time with family
Even though my parents visit often for volleyball games, I can't wait to go home and spend time with them and my other family members. I always get to see my cousins and grandma for Thanksgiving and this year will be great because we get to visit them at their house in Orange County! There's nothing like a great home-cooked meal with your family around the holidays.
