Short hair has come back into fashion and girls are trading their long locks for mod haircuts. Celebrities and everyday women alike are embracing the beauty and sophistication of a close cut. This trend has been received with mixed emotions. Some people praise the edgy look of a pixie or bob while others prefer traditional, flowing tresses. Whatever your stance, if you've ever been a lady with a cropped hairdo, you'll understand that there are several responses to your look that you'll encounter over and over again. Here are a few of the things you can expect to become recurring themes after a fresh cut:
1. Did you get a haircut?
This question is only acceptable if you've had this style for a while and recently got a trim. However, as most ladies who have made the drastic jump from very long hair to very short hair know, you'll have to answer this several times, even though it's obvious that you have. Why ask a question that you already have visual evidence of?
2. What happened to your hair?
This implies that a terrible tragedy took place on your head, because why would you ever choose to switch up your style? Nothing "happened" to my hair except that there's less of it now (which I happen to like).
3. Good luck growing it out again.
Growing your hair out after a pixie or bob can be difficult, time-consuming and frustrating, but who said you want to? After reaping the benefits of having short hair (which include little maintenance, easy styling and looking adorable) you may not ever be ready to wrestle with long hair again!
4. You look like a boy.
This comment usually comes from elderly gentlemen who don't understand just how feminine short hair can really be. There are plenty of gorgeous gals who rock their coiffed cuts with beautiful dresses and perfect makeup! Even so, style is a matter of preference. If you want to own the tomboy look, a short cut can be a major confidence booster.
5. You would look better with long hair.
This is a matter of opinion, not a fact. If you love your short hair, don't worry about what other people think! Too often, girls love their choppy look until someone unwittingly ruins their newfound self-confidence by uttering this phrase. You're the one who has to wear your hair, so don't change something you like about yourself over an off-the-cuff comment.
The perks of having a haircut that you love far outweigh the silly reactions you'll undoubtedly encounter as a result. Whatever your style preference is, wear it with confidence!
