5 Things To Look Forward To After College

For those of us who are seniors or close to graduating, we find ourselves with severe cases of senioritis. The last year of school brings various emotions ranging from happiness, to excitement, to uncertainty, to fear. Leaving college and moving into full-time adulthood is a scary reality to face, but at the end of the day the pros outweigh the cons. I now find myself spending an hour a day looking at the United States map trying to figure out which city that I want to live in; searching for apartments in potential neighborhoods. Despite the fact that my college years are coming to a close, I couldn't be more excited about the future that lies ahead.

Hanging up your college t-shirts and trading them for blazers can be a hard adjustment, but there are so many things to look forward to in post-graduate life.

1. Having money

So long to the days of being a broke college student and say hello to a 401K! There's is nothing better than being on the road to financial freedom, and the first step comes from landing your first job out of college.

2. Travel.

You no longer have to save money for books and tuition. You can finally start investing in yourself and traveling the world. Most of us who graduate from college are not married, do not have kids, and have zero responsibilities. This is the perfect opportunity to see the world and all that it has to offer.

3. Get a gym membership.

In college, eating pizza and Jimmy Johns every night for dinner is the norm and it's justified. You have school, you have work, and you have a plethora of hats that you have to wear. Graduating will allow you time to focus on healthy eating and working out. Getting a gym membership is the perfect opportunity.

4. Meeting new people.

Graduating at times means a new city filled with new people. I've always told people that college gives you a chance to meet new people, but you haven't even met half the people you'll meet in your lifetime. Life always changes and you never know who you'll get the opportunity to meet.

5. Finding your passion.

Post-grad life is all about finding what you're passionate about and making that into a career. Whether it's corporate America, politics, non-profit, or art. This time is all about you and doing whatever makes you happy.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
