5 Things to do During Exam Week
The Tab

Everyone has exams around this time of the year, whether it be mid-terms or finals. These few weeks are incredibly stressful for people, especially for high school and college students. While it is important to study and prepare, monitoring your health is also extremely vital. Here are five things to do to help you get through exam week:

1) Stay focused.

It's very important to stay focused during exam week, as it plays a vital part in your preparation and performance on exam day. By staying focused and having clear goals in mind all of exam week, I can assure you that you'll be ready to go!

I can say from personal experience that if you can't manage to stay focused throughout the week, you'll have more to study and review in days before the exam, causing unnecessary stress.

2) Eat nutritious food.

By eating nutritious food, students have more energy to continue studying. Additionally, it's very important for students to eat all three meals, especially breakfast. Many students skip breakfast and end up being very hungry and tired for most of the day.

Without breakfast, students don't have the energy to process information and think clearly as well as they can with it.

Remember, eat a nutritious breakfast on exam day to help prepare your body for the the challenge that lies ahead!

3) Exercise everyday.

Similar to nutritious food, exercise is also another aspect that students need in order to operate normally. Studying can take a toll on your body when you're sitting at a desk for hours on end staring at textbooks or a computer screen.

By exercising and warming up your body, your brain will be stimulated and provide better results from your studying. Make sure to take breaks in between study periods, and jog for 10 minutes before resuming your studies.

4) Do NOT cram.

This is probably the most important tip that I will over and over again repeat: Do. Not. Cram.

It's probably the worst thing that you can do while preparing for an exam (besides not studying.) Cramming is something students do all the time (I do it too,) and it's an extremely unhealthy habit. Students who cram study all the material the night before the exam, getting up very early or going to sleep past midnight, resulting in complete exhaustion the next day. Do you see why that's a bad decision to make?

It also causes anxiety and stress, especially when you don't remember anything you do the night before. That's why it's so important to pace yourself when studying during exam week to insure that you receive the best scores you can get on the exam.

5) Get a good night's rest before the exam and stay confident!

Lastly, get a good night's rest before the exam! Sleep for 7-9 hours before the exam to be fully rested and ready to go the next day. If you've been studying properly you will be confident and absolutely prepared! Eat a healthy breakfast and go off to class feeling confident that you will ace the exam! After all, only with a positive mind can you achieve positive results.

Good luck to everyone taking their exams in the next few days, and make sure to stay healthy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
