Living with an architect can be a very difficult thing to do, they always think they are right and they always have a large mess in the room called a design project. Probably about half of the guys on my dorm floor are architecture majors so I definitely have some insight on them especially since one of them is my roommate. From my experience with these guys I have picked up a few things that they all have in common and do.
1. All architecture majors always have at least 5 X-Acto Knives with them at all times. They usually have these for the design projects they are always doing, but they really use these knives for just about everything.
2. They only thing they do more than their design projects is complain about their design projects. Architecture majors are constantly doing very intense projects for their design classes that take a long time but when they are not doing the projects they are complaining about how they have to do the projects.
3. They always assume they have it harder than you. Architecture majors always think that they have the hardest major and then because of that, they are automatically better than other people. They are always working on those crazy design projects which make them think that they have it worse than anybody else.
4. They are messy. There is always cardboard, millboard, foam, X-Acto knives, and all other types of craft materials littered across the room. When they make projects they just leave all of their scraps everywhere and never clean them up.
5. They are overall just so similar. Whenever they are together they just talk about their projects, their professors, and all things architecture. One thing I have noticed is they all seem to love video games because they play video games whenever they’re not doing/complaining about design projects. And they all claim to be crappy artists but compared to non-design majors, they are amazing. Now of course not all of these things are true for all architecture majors but I have noticed they are quite similar in a lot of ways.
